Washington State Student Achievement Council
The Washington Student Achievement Council (WSAC) maintains transcripts for some institutions that no longer operate in the state. Scroll down the page for the section on closed degree granting institutions.
The WSAC has transcripts for the following closed schools:
- Behavioral Physiology Institutes
- Crown College - degree program students only
- Henry Cogswell College
- Maple Valley College, aka Pacific Western College or Renton College
- Northwest Aviation College
- Prometheus College
- Rainier College
The site also offers contact information for transcripts of : Northwest Baptist Seminary (Tacoma), Kaplan College-Renton, and Puget Sound Christian College, Everett.

Mississippi Student Records for Closed Institutions
The Mississippi Commission on College Accreditation (MCCA) may be able to provide contact information for people trying to find student records at institutions that have closed. Their website offers contact information and there are links to forms for requesting records of Magnolia Bible College, Mary Holmes College, Phillips College, Wesley College, and Wood College. The web site notes that neither MCCA nor Mississippi Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) store student records for closed schools.
Oklahoma Information on Records of Closed Institutions
The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education maintain a web page with a list of closed institutions and contacts for requesting student records. Information is provided for: American Christian College, American Christian College and Seminary, Bryan Institute, City College, Flaming Rainbow University, Metropolitan College, Oklahoma City Southwestern College, Oklahoma Junior College, Oklahoma Missionary Baptist College, and Phillips University.
Texas Academic Records and Contacts
The Texas Workforce Commission maintains a list of records retention locations and contacts for closed career schools and colleges. If the school closed prior to 1972, there are no provisions in place for maintaining those records. Legislation passed in 1972 required the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) to monitor where student records are maintained and what entity controls them.

California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education
The California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education maintains a list of closed institutions with contact information for location of academic records.
If a state-approved institution closes, California law requires the institution to arrange for the storage and safekeeping in California of all transcripts. The length of retention varies by type of institution. If the institution granted degrees, the transcripts must be maintained for 50 years. If it was a vocational institution, the transcripts must be maintained for 5 years. The repository for the records is decided on a case-by-case basis. Massachusetts Student Records
The Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation maintains records of private occupational or proprietary institutions. Their web site includes bulletins with information and a list of closed institutions.
The Massachusetts Department of Higher Education offers transcripts for selected degree-granting institutions through their web site. A list of institutions is also available that includes where records are located if they are not available through the Department of Higher Education.

Minnesota Student Records
The Minnesota Office of Higher Education maintains a list with the location of student records from Minnesota institutions that have closed, changed their names, or merged with another institution. Also on the list are schools that were formerly licensed or registered but no longer offer programs in Minnesota that require licensing or registration.

The Division of Program Services offers similar records for institutions of higher education that have closed and you can call their office at (717) 772-3623.

Oregon Private Career Schools

The Oregon Department of Education provides contact information to request transcripts. Licensed private career schools are required to maintain student transcripts for a period of 25 years. If a school closes, it is required to forward student transcripts to the Department of Education.
Georgia Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission
The State Of Georgia Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission offers a web page with a link to use in requesting transtripts from institutions that have closed.
