Lewis-Clark State College Honors Local Historian and Celebrates 125th Anniversary

Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho is celebrating the 125th anniversary of its founding in 1893.   The institution was founded as Lewiston State Normal School.  It became Northern Idaho College of Education in 1947 before changing its name to Lewis-Clark Normal School in 1955 and then Lewis-Clark State College in 1971.
Local historian and retired educator Steve Branting was honored in late June 2018 with the title ofLewis-Clark State College Institutional Historian” by college president, J. Anthony Fernandez.  Branting is an alum and is featured in an excellent video of the institution's history, "Definded by Perseverance," that is available for viewing on YouTube.



The Lewis-Clark State College Center for Arts & History will also offer an exhibit, “Town & Gown” 125 years of LCSC Campus and Community – an exhibit of celebration.” The exhibit will run from September 6th through October 27th at the Center, located in downtown Lewiston at 415 Main St.  A series of lectures, film and panel discussions will be scheduled to coincide with the exhibit.

New History of the College of Southern Idaho...Coincides with 50th Anniversary

A new book, Meeting Needs and Developing Opportunities: A History of the College of Southern Idaho, is featured in a video interview and article posted by KMVT of Twin Falls, ID on their web site.  Dr. Jim Gentry is the author and the release of the book coincides with the 50th anniversary of the institution.  The book sells for $19.95 and is currently available at the CSI Bookstore, the gift store at the Herrett Center for Arts and Science, or the Twin Falls Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center.

CSI offers a variety of resources to honor the 50th anniversary on their web site and you can also find a timeline of key events in CSI history.

College of Idaho Celebrates 125th Anniversary of Founding

The Idaho Press-Tribune reported last week on the celebration at the College of Idaho recognizing the founding of the institution October 7, 1891.  Located in Caldwell, ID and founded as the College of Idaho, the institution's name changed to Albertson's College of Idaho in 1991 before reverting to the College of Idaho in 2007.
