U.S. Department of Education Circulars, 1887-1903

Frederick Rudolph's section on "history by historians" from his bibliography in The American College & University: A History begins with comments on Circulars of Information, published between 1887 and 1903 by the U.S. Bureau of Education.  The series was edited by Herbert Baxter Adams, who Rudolph recognizes as, "...early master of the research seminar.."

Most of the volumes are available through Google Books or other sites like Hathi Trust Digital Library or the Internet Archive.  The table below includes links to the separate volumes.

Allianze University College of Medical Sciences Closes

University World News posted an article by Emilia Tan and Yojana Sharma reporting that Allianze University College of Medical Sciences (AUCMS) closed.  AUCMS was a private institution founded in 2002 that also operated in Indonesia collaborating with Universitas Sumatera Utara and recently purchased a campus in London.  The closure impacts roughly 2,000 students and 500 staff members.

The History of Hanover College written by A.Y Moore was published in 1900 and is available in a variety of formats through the Internet Archive.  Hanover was founded in 1827 and is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).

The Vision Revisited: A History of Meredith College 1971-1998 by Carolyn C. Robinson is available through the Internet Archive in a variety of formats.  Copies are also available for purchase through AbeBooks.com.

Robinson's book builds on an earlier work by Mary Lynch Johnson, A History of Meredith College, 2nd edition that was published in 1972. 

Bethel & Adelphia: Two Institutions with a Common Foundation in Swedish Pietism

Chris Gehrz authored a post, "When Bethel Had A Sibling" that is available as part of a larger project offering a digital history of Bethel University from 1914-2014 with the title of Bethel at War: A Digital History of a Christian College in a Century of Warfare.  Bethel University in St. Paul, MN was founded as Bethel Academy and had a sister institution, Adelphia College in Seattle, WA.  Gehrz explores Bethel's success and Adelphia's closure in the broader context of institutions founded in the early 1900's.  Bethel is affiliated with the Baptist General Conference that has roots in Swedish Pietism.
