U.S. Department of Education Circulars, 1887-1903
Frederick Rudolph's section on "history by historians" from his bibliography in The American College & University: A History begins with comments on Circulars of Information, published between 1887 and 1903 by the U.S. Bureau of Education. The series was edited by Herbert Baxter Adams, who Rudolph recognizes as, "...early master of the research seminar.."
Most of the volumes are available through Google Books or other sites like Hathi Trust Digital Library or the Internet Archive. The table below includes links to the separate volumes.
