Centenary College announced change in name to Centenary University

Kelly Heyboer reports for NJ.com that Centenary College in Hackettstown, NJ will change its name to Centenary University effective immediately.  Centenary was founded in 1867 by the Newark Conference of the United Methodist Church as a preparatory school.  The institution evolved to become a junior college for women by 1940.  Baccalaureate programs were added after 1976 and Centenary became coeducational in 1988.
