The Tennessee Magazine posted an interesting article on May 1, 2015 highlighting a number of images and brief historical sketches of institutions that have closed in the state. Washing College, Burritt College, Irving College, University of Nashville, and Fairmount College are a few of institutions featured.
Bill Carey, the author of the article also authored Chancellors, Commodores, and Coeds: A History of Vanderbilt University. The book was published in 2005 by Clearbrook Press.
