King College in Bristol, TN announced recently that they will change their name to King University, effective June 1, 2013. The institution was founded in 1867 and is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church.
Reverend James D. Tadlock, a graduate of Princeton Seminary was the founding president and served for eighteen years. King became coeducational after 1931 when Stonewall Jackson College, a Presbyterian institution for women in Abingdon, VA closed.
