Binghamton University Closing Out 75th Anniversary of Founding

Binghamton U. is wrapping up its 75 anniversary this month and the university's blog featured "Binghamton University at 75: A Photo Flashback" by Madeline Loiaconi on December 3, 2021.

Binghamton University was originally named Triple Cities Community College when the doors opened in 1946 as a two-year college for GIs returning from war. The institution was affiliated with Syracuse University and was located in Endicott, NY. The main building of the campus was located in old Colonial Hall.

In 1950, the name was changed to Harpur College and it was incorporated into the State University of New York. It moved to Binghamton, NY in 1961 and the name changed to SUNY Binghamton in 1965.

You can read more about the institution's history in a post by Katie Ellis on June 4, 2021, "Happy 75th Anniversary Binghamton University!"
