Claflin University is celebrating the 150th anniversary of its founding in 1869. Dr. Henry N. Tisdale, Claflin president, unveiled an anniversary sign in late 2018 and a number of activities are planned for the rest of this year. Claflin, located in Orangeburg, SC, is an HBC&U and is affiliated with the United Methodist Church. It was founded in 1869 and was known as Claflin College until 1999 when the name changed to Claflin University.
