Anna Clark writing for NextCity.org argues persuasively for keeping a focus on "community" at our community colleges. She leads of by describing the success of her parents as they obtained degrees and improved the prospects for their family. Clark then closes powerfully by stating that "Community colleges are, at heart, a radical manifestation of the belief that access to education, knowledge and culture are a public good. By stripping the “community” from their names, these schools give up too much ground to those who believe otherwise."
