Hallowed Halls Protestant Colleges in Old China offers a collection of amazing photographs by Deke Erh and text by Martha Smalley. The book was published in 1998 by Old China Hand Press in cooperation with the United Board for Christian Higher Education in China, now the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia. Though a bit dated, you can also find a useful web site reflecting an study of the interaction between the China Christian colleges and American liberal arts colleges between 1900 and 1950. Funded by the Luce Foundation and hosted by Yale, the web site includes an overview of the project, brief descriptions of the Chinese colleges, a variety of links to other resources, and a searchable database of images.
