Hobart College (NY)

The Abner Jackson Journal offers a transcribed journal of the former president of Hobert College (1858-1867). The site is worth visiting to see how the features of the blog have been used to facilitate access to the text. The collaborative effort draws on expertise of historians, archivists, and students.

Geneva College in Geneva, NY was founded in 1818 and initially operated as Geneva Academy. It was renamed Hobart College in 1852. Geneva Medical College was in existence from 1836-1872 and a
picture is provided. Elizabeth Blackwell earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the College, the first woman to receive the degree in the United States.
