Barat College (IL)

Steve Sadin reports on the possible change for the former campus in the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Patch.
Judy Masterson's article, Razing of Barat’s Old Main condition of donation to Woodlands Academy, for the Chicago Sun-Times publications also covers plans for the campus.

Barat College was founded in Chicago as an academy for young women in 1858 by the Society of the Sacred Heart.  The institution moved to its Lake Forest location in 1904.  Barat was acquired by DePaul University in 2001 and closed in 2005.

Martha Curry, RSCJ, is writing a history of the college, Barat College: A Legacy, A Spirit and A Name.  There is a link for those interested in acquiring a copy of the book.

The website of the Barat Educational Foundation also offers other interesting links.
