Inside Higher Ed published an
April 15, 2011 article covering the announcement that Lambuth University will be closing at the end of the current academic year. Founded as the Memphis Conference Female Institute in 1843, it later moved to Jackson, TN in 1928. The institution became co-ed and changed it's name to Lambuth College at the time of the move. A final name change to Lambuth University occurred in 1991.
The
Memphis Commercial Appeal posted an
article written by Richard Morgan highlighting a proposed acquisition of Lambuth University by the University of Memphis.
An earlier April 4th article also focused on survival efforts at the institution. Another February 25th article covers a temporary delay in the loss of accrediation that permits the institution to pursues alternatives.
