Georgian Court University (NJ) (Campus History Series) was published to coincide with the centennial of the institution. Georgian Court was founded in 1908 in Plainfield, NJ as Mount St. Mary’s College and Academy for Young Ladies. The institution later moved to 900 Lakewood Avenue, Lakewood, N.J., on the picturesque former George Jay Gould estate, now a National Historic Landmark.
The author is Edwarda Barry, RSM, Ph.D., a member of the Sisters of Mercy and an alumna of the university. she served as a faculty member, department chair, and university trustee. Dr. Barry is currently the university historian.
